This was originally built as a school hall, so if you imagine a traditional ‘village hall’ you’ve got the idea! It’s the bigger hall of the two, has a hard wooden floor and hatch access to the kitchen. Currently we book it out
to groups like the Guides and Zumba. Quiz Nights are now a regular feature in the bookings for Hicks! About once a year Hicks becomes the local polling station. Weddings in St John’s Church are often followed by a lunchtime reception here – well, it’s not far to walk!
The hall has capacity for up to 80 people, and a set of male/female loos at the end of the hall, as well as foyer access to the disabled toilet. In the winter it is not ideal for less active groups as it will never quite be warm enough! Hicks has attractive traditional windows fronting the main road, and is supplied with plenty of tables and chairs.
Currently prices are £12 per hour, for regular weekly or monthly bookings. All-day bookings are arranged at a discount. One-off events are charged at £15 per hour, plus a security deposit of around £150 depending on facilities hired. Please allow for your setting-up and clearing-up time when you calculate the total period you’re booking. We have a minimum charge period of an hour and a half.
