Hall Hire
Hall Facilities
St John’s Church owns a Community Suite of two halls, fully equipped kitchen, with separate loos including a disabled access toilet. We currently have many happy hall users who have been with us for years! We welcome enquiries from any new groups interested in regular bookings of either hall, and we’re happy to show you round
when the hall is vacant. Occasional one-off bookings are sometimes also available, such as baptism buffets or formal wedding receptions.
Hicks Hall (see left) is a traditional ‘village hall’ style -spacious for an exercise class, a quiz night or a ceilidh, and pretty for summer weddings. Because of the high ceiling, it can be draughty in the winter!
Haydon Hall (see right) is a modern purpose-built meeting roo
m, warm and carpeted. It is ideal for meetings, AGMs, conferences, hobby clubs, complementary therapy groups, book clubs, training courses, etc.
Bookings may be made for day-time or evening slots, including some Saturdays. Courses or conferences running over a whole weekend can be accommodated on the last weekend of each month.
More information can found on the following pages. In the first instance, please contact Bookings Secretary Liz Ford to arrange a visit and check availability.

Food and Drink Users are very welcome to use the drinks making facilities in the kitchen – kettles, mugs, fridge etc – on a ‘bring your own drinks’ basis. Catering services are easily booked direct with providers located nearby. Some catering supplies – crockery etc – can be hired, and these can be viewed when you come to look around. For group bookings, a lunch package can often be provided, comprising home-made soup with bread, and delicious home-made cakes.
Currently prices are £12 per hour for either hall, for regular weekly or monthly bookings. All-day bookings are arranged at a discount. One-off events are charged at £15 per hour, plus a security deposit of around £150 depending on facilities and equipment hired. Please allow for your setting-up and clearing-up time when you calculate the total period you’re booking. We have a minimum charge period of an hour and a half.
Parking Some off-road car parking is available, shared between users of both halls. Overflow parking is available on the grass area behind the main parking area, and roadside parking is free. For health and safety, cars must not be left immediately in front of the main door or the rear exit. Disabled badge holders only may park in the bay to the right of the main door.
Disabled Users The halls have a designated parking space, ramped access to the main door, level floors inside the building, and a disabled toilet accessible from either of the halls.
