Church Council

St John’s Church is run by St John’s District Church Council (DCC).

The DCC comprises the Vicar, Churchwarden, the Treasurer, elected members of Deanery Synod or Diocesan Syn, six elected and to co-opted members of the congregation. A smaller group, known as the Standing Committee, is responsible for setting the Agenda of meetings and overseeing the life of the church in between DCC meetings.

Other committees are formed from time to time as needed although there is a ‘permament’ Building’s Group and also a Hall Committee that oversees care of the church, church halls, gardens and car park.

The Churchwardens, Treasurer and DCC are appointed at the Annual District Church Council meeting which usually takes place in March or early April.
